About Us
Literacy Ohio is a membership organization governed by a Board of Directors composed of literacy and adult education program personnel, business representatives, adult learners and government agency representatives. Funding for the Network comes from public and private government grants, donations and membership dues. Our Mission: Literacy Ohio is committed to building Ohios workforce by strengthening adult and family literacy education. Primary Projects and Services Include: A statewide LearnLine which provides access to FREE 24/7 learning tools on television, through the internet, at home and in the local community. A statewide GED Connection project which provides adult learners across Ohio with 24/7 home and internet based access to GED preparation tools. The Literacy Ohio Online Learning Site which provides adult learners across Ohio with 24/7 learning tools and connections to local education programs and resources. A statewide network of collaborative projects with the State Library of Ohio, Ohio Community Computing Network, Heat and Energy Assistance Program, Women, Infants and Children, Time Warner Cable and the Ohio Educational Television Stations. A statewide directory of literacy service providers. Public awareness and marketing initiatives to recruit potential students and volunteers for literacy programs, as well as branding and marketing of Literacy Ohio, its services and members organizations. Advocacy coordination researching and informing agencies of national and state issues affecting adult and family literacy. Literacy coalition coordination and professional development support.
