Volunteers
The Ohio Literacy Network connects volunteers to local literacy programs through our statewide network, so they can serve where it matters most – in their own community. Literacy volunteers working in local programs may become tutors, classroom aides; assist with office duties, plan events, literacy awareness campaigns, help with fundraising or serve on local literacy boards.
Volunteers and tutors are needed in many learning centers in Ohio. Literacy programs in your area will provide you with the training you need to be an effective tutor. Tutors come from many backgrounds and experience levels. Willingness and commitment to help students are the most important volunteer qualities. Tutors do not need a degree nor do they have to speak a foreign language to tutor students in English. You can make a difference!
